The current films have the movie ratings such an R, PG etc. The older films are unrated, as are the TV shows. The TV shows have commercial breaks. NR means no rating

THE AFRICAN QUEEN: (NR) The chemistry between the two stars in this classic movie helped define its reputation. It was co-written and directed by John Huston. With a mix of comedy, romance, and adventure, the story concerns opposites (a gin-drinking river trader and a prim missionary) who find each other during World War I. Stars Katherine Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart, and Theodore Bikel.

ALADDIN: (Disney, animated - G) This fast-paced, magical adventure follows a young, street-smart peasant in his attempt to win a princess' heart.

ALADDIN AND THE MAGIC LAMP (NR) When handsome young Aladdin meets the spoiled but spirited Princess Boudoir, it's love at first sight-- for both of them. But the Sultan of Baghdad has other marital plans for his daughter than a mere commoner. Enter a mysterious magician who promises to smooth the way of true love if Aladdin retrieves an old lamp for him. Aladdin discovers there is more to the lamp than meets the eyes.

ALGIERS(NR) Up in the Casbah, Pepe le Moko reigns like a prince: elegant boulevardier one moment, efficient gang leader the next. He has everything except his freedom. Below in the modern city of Algiers Pepe le Moko is a badly wanted criminal in hiding. He dreams of returning to Paris and decides to do so when he meets an alluring Parisenne on her way home. However, to reach the ship, he must cross the city where the police are watching for him.

THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW-1: "The New Housekeeper" - Aunt Bea arrives to be the new housekeeper. Trouble occurs when Opie resists. ANNE OF AVONLEA: (G) In this sequel to "Anne of Green Gables," Anne is now 18 years old and an independent young woman. She is a teacher at Avonlea where she learns about love, friendship, and the ways of the world.

ANNE OF GREEN GABLES: (G) In 1908, a bachelor farmer and his sister on Prince Edward Island, Canada, adopt a high-spirited orphan girl.

ANTZ: (PG) Life is no picnic for Z a small worker ant with some very big ideas whose chances of landing the beautiful Princess Bala are literally one in a billion. But when Z convinces his soldier buddy to switch places with him, his simple life takes a wild turn. Once the most insignificant of workers, Z may just turn out to be the biggest hero of them all.

APOLLO 13: (PG) Based on a true story, three astronauts fight a desperate battle to make it back to earth in a damaged spacecraft. Tom Hanks, Kevin Bacon, Gary Sinise, Bill Paxton.

THE APPRENTICESHIP OF DUDDY KRAVITZ: (NR) Richard Dreyfuss stars in this comic tale of a young hustler filled with drive, dreams and determination to become a somebody.

ARTHUR'S BABY: (G) Arthur's is not so sure he's ready for a new baby in the house. As the months fly by, Arthur imagines how life is about to change--and it isn't a pretty picture. Also includes "D.W. 's Baby". Living with a baby is no picnic. No on ever told D.W. that babies cry all the time, throw up on your clothes and get all the attention. Just how long will baby Kate hang around?

ARTHUR CHICKEN POX: (G) The circus is in town and the whole family is excited. Dad gets the tickets, Mom gets the film for the camera, and Arthur gets the chicken pox! D.W. is jealous of all the attention Arthur is getting. But will Arthur recover in time for the circus? Also includes" Arthur and the True Francine." Despite their difference, Muffy and Francine are absolute best friends. It seems nothing can come between them-until Muffy cheats on a math test and lets Francine take the blame.

ARTHUR'S EYE: (G) For some reason, Arthur isn't doing well in school anymore. Maybe he just needs new glasses. Problem is, he doesn't want to be seen wearing them. Also includes "Francine's Bad Hair Day." It's school picture day, and Muffy has been working some magic on her best friend. Is that really Francine in a dress? Or is it some curly haired look-alike?

ARTHUR MAKES THE TEAM (G) It's baseball season, and Arthur and the gang all sign up to play. Coach Frensky's challenge is to work with a team where everyone wants to pitch-- and no one knows the meaning of teamwork. Also includes "Meek for Week." Muffy bets Francine that she can't be nice to everyone for a whole week. Francine has to keep the bet a secret. The trouble is, the gang begins to worry that Francine isn't herself.

ARTHUR WRITE A STORY: (G) Struggling with a school writing assignment, Arthur decides that all he needs is a little imagination to make life sound more interesting than it really is. But his story crosses the line when it includes invisible elephants and trips to outer space. Also Includes "Locked in the Library." If only Arthur hadn't called Francine a marshmallow! Now they're locked in the public library. They have to make up or face the scary night alone.

ARTHUR'S FIRST SLEEPOVER: (G) When D.W. finds out she's not part of the sleepover, she gets angry and decides to have some fun of her owns--with the help of some alien friends. But who will have the last laugh-- Arthur and his friends or D.W. Also includes "Arthur's Lost Dog." Arthur is the only one who believes in the superior intelligence of his dog, Pal. But even Arthur doesn't understand when Pal runs away.

ARTHUR'S LOST LIBRARY BOOK: (G) Arthur was the first to take out the new Scare-Your-Pants-off book from the library. A week later, he can't find it. Something's weird. It couldn't have just walked off! Or could it? Also includes "DW's Imaginary Friend." Someone only D.W. can see has moved in with the Reads. Her name is Nadine, and she follows D.W. everywhere. But when D.W. insists on bringing Nadine to the amusement park, Arthur flips out. Must D.W. embarrass him in front of all his friends?

ARTHUR'S NEW PUPPY: (G) Arthur's new puppy, Pal, is exactly what he wanted. He's cute and he follows Arthur everywhere. But training Pal is a lot harder than Arthur thought. Can he teach Pal to behave? Also Included "Buster's Dino Dilemma." Buster and Arthur are excited about the class fossil-hunting field trip. On his own, Buster discovers a very interesting bone. Is it the remains of a dinosaur--or someone's leftover dinner?

ARTHUR'S PET BUSINESS: (G) How can Arthur prove to his parents that he's ready to take care of a puppy of his own? "Get a Job!" suggests D.W. Within two days, Arthur's pet business has its first client. Also Includes "D.W. the Copycat." D.W.'s going through yet another personality change. This time she wants to be just like Arthur. She walks like him, she talks like him, and she follows him wherever he goes.

ARTHUR'S TEACHER TROUBLES: (G) It's the first day of third grade, and Arthur's biggest fear has come true. His new teacher is the dreaded Mr. Ratburn--a man who is rumored to eat nails for breakfast, to turn into a vampire at night, and to give homework everyday. ARTHUR'S TOOTH: (G) Everyone in the class has lost a tooth except Arthur. When he finally has a loose tooth, he tries everything to get it out, but it won't budge. AS YOU LIKE IT: (NR) (Contain Commercial Breaks) This movie is based on Shakespeare's play. It centers on the fortunes of an exiled king and his court in the forest of Arden. They wander through a maze of romance and mixed identities. Lawrence Olivier, Elisabeth Bergner, Leon Quartermaine.

BABE: (G) Babe, a talking pig, thinks he is a dog. His owner, farmer Hoggett, enters him in the National Sheepdog Championship, even though everyone thinks he is crazy. What happens is sure to delight and surprise every viewer. James Cromwell and Magda Szubanski.

BACHELOR'S DAUGHTERS: (NR) (Contain Commercial Breaks)Four shop girls and a floorwalker rent a Long Island house. They pass themselves off as a wealthy family in order to find suitable husbands. Adolphe Menjou, Gail Russell, Claire Trevor.

BACK TO THE FUTURE: (PG) Teenager Marty McFly gets sent back in time to 1955 where he's caught in a race to set his future straight. Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson.

BAMBI: (Disney, animated -G) Bambi, a baby deer, learns lessons of love, loss, and growth with his forest friends: Thumper, a playful rabbit, Flower, a bashful skunk, and wise Friend Owl.

BASEBALL: This is a nine volume (or "inning") documentary. It is the quintessential history of the all-American pastime, baseball, that was written and directed by Ken Burns. (You'll be sent one or two "innings" at a time.)

BASIC INSTINCT: (R) This movie is a chilling murder mystery in which a detective is obsessed with solving a case that involves a beautiful, mysterious novelist. Michael Douglas, Sharon Stone.

THE BEACHCOMBER: (NR) (Contain Commercial Breaks) A beach bum living on an island paradise becomes involved with a straight-laced missionary. Charles Laughton, Elsa Lanchester.

BEACHES: (PG-13) This is the story of a thirty-year friendship between two women and its survival despite many ups and downs. Bette Midler, Barbara Hershey.

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST: (Disney, animated - G) A wicked enchantress turns a handsome prince into a hideous beast. He lives in his bewitched castle and must win the love of a beautiful girl before the last petal falls from a magic rose.

BEETHOVEN: (G) Trouble starts when an adorable puppy adopts the Newton family and promptly grows up into a 185 pound romping, drooling, and disaster-prone St. Bernard. Charles Grodin.

BEHAVE YOURSELF: (NR) A couple with a dog is wanted by a criminal gang. Farley Granger, Shelly Winters.

BELLS OF ST. MARY: (NR) Fr. O'Malley finds himself up to his neck in nuns when he is assigned to decide if St. Mary's school is worth the extensive renovations it requires. The nuns, led by Sr. Benedict, believe the school must be saved; but the chairman of the town council insists it should be condemned.

BEVERLY HILLS COP: (R) A young, streetwise cop from Detroit trails the killers of an old friend to the ritziest part of Los Angeles. The local police are appalled at his outrageous methods. Eddie Murphy, Judge Reinhold.

BEYOND JUSTICE: (NR) When her 10-year-old son is abducted, a wealthy, strong-willed businesswoman hires a mercenary and his team to get the boy back. The chase takes them deep into the Arabian desert. Unknown to the mother, the boy is the grandson of a powerful emir. The emir has decided the boy will become his heir. The emir has a large and powerful army who will do everything to keep the boy from being returned to his mother.

BIG: (PG) In this hit comedy, twelve-year-old Josh Baskin's wish to be older comes true. Tom Hanks.

THE BLACK BOOK: (NR). This is a historical, action-adventure movie that takes place during the French Revolution as Robespierre plots to overthrow the king. Robert Cummings, Arlene Dahl, Richard Basehart

BLACKBEARD, THE PIRATE: (NR) It's late into the 17th century, and the Spanish Main is overrun with pirates. The King of England has commissioned sir henry Morgan, himself a former privateer, to clear the Caribbean of the rogues he once commanded. Morgan has high ambitions of his own. But his lust for gold and power is surpassed by Blackbeard the Pirate

BLUE HAWAII: (G) Fun, fun, and more fun in paradise as Chadwick comes back from the army and renews his love for his girlfriend. Trouble occurs when he refuses to follow in his father's footsteps. BORDERLINE: (NR) When a spunky Los Angeles policewoman and a tough U.S. customs agent are each sent undercover to Mexico to ferret out a ruthless drug lord, neither is aware they've been assigned the same task. As both agents gather evidence, each believes the other to be guilty. But as they flee from the drug lord towards the borderline neither can deny their mutual attraction. Will their budding romance survive or will they turn each other in?

BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S: (NR) Holly Golightly, an eccentric New York playgirl, is determined to marry a millionaire until a handsome writer moves in next door. Based on the book by Truman Capote. Audrey Hepburn.

BROADCAST NEWS: (R) This hit comedy takes place in a network TV newsroom. Aaron, Tom, and Jane's personal lives become entangled romantically and emotionally. Many laughs ensue as a result as these workaholics compete with each other in and away from the office. Directed by James L. Brooks. Stars Holly Hunter, Albert Brooks, and William Hurt.

BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID: (PG) This movie is a blend of adventure, romance, and comedy that recounts the true story of the West's most likeable outlaws. Paul Newman, Robert Redford.

BYE BYE BLUES: (NR) When her husband is captured early in WWII, Daisy Cooper returns to small-town Alberta, Canada. She must find a way to earn a living for herself and her two young children. A talent for music leads her into a singing career and a romance that challenges her deepest values.

CADILLAC GIRLS:In San Francisco, Sally MacKinnon, a career-oriented college professor, reluctantly accepts custody of her rebellious teenaged daughter Page. Sally must return to Nova Scotia to settle her estranged father's estate. As Sally copes with her past and Page discovers the home and family she never had, they develop a better understanding of each other. A warm hearted tale.

 

CALL IT MURDER: (NR) Edward Weldon is the foreman of a jury which finds a middle-aged wife guilty of murdering her husband for financial gain. And because of her answer to a question posed by Weldon, the woman is sentenced to death. As the eve of her execution approaches, Weldon experiences increasing pressure from the media, the public and his own family. Meanwhile, his young daughter has fallen in love with a young hoodlum.

CALL OF THE WILD: (NR) In the midst of the Klondike gold rush, adventurer John Thornton makes an acquaintance who will become his boon companion: a German Shepherd named Buck. As they mush from Skagway to Dawson City carrying the mail, and helping each other endure and then triumph over adversity, they form a deep and lasting bond.

CASABLANCA: (PG) In Morocco during Wold War II, Rick's love for Ilsa is rekindled as she attempts to flee the Nazis with her husband. This movie is generally considered one of the best ever made and includes the trademark song, "As Time Goes By." Winner of three Academy Awards. Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Claude Rains, and Peter Lorre.

CASABLANCA EXPRESS: (NR) Winston Churchill is going to North Africa to a top level meeting in Casablanca. He plans to go by airplane. The Allies hear of a plan by the Germans to take the train. Churchill switches to the Casablanca Express. The train is highjacked by the Nazis. Churchill's only hope are three undercover agents on the train.

CASPER: (PG) A ghost therapist is hired to exorcise a friendly young ghost and his three mischievous uncles from Whipstaff Manor.

CAST A DARK SHADOW: (NR) When charming Edward" Teddy" Bare finds his wealthy middle-aged wife consulting with her lawyer, he figures she intends to cut him out of her will. Do he quickly arranges her accidental death. Too quickly: turns out she was planning to leave him everything instead of a big house he can't afford to live in.

CHAPLIN: (PG) This is a biography of the comedian known as "The Little Tramp" which portrays his amazing life on a grand scale. Robert Downey, Jr.

CHARADE: (NR) Regina Lambert's husband and a quarter of a million dollars are missing in post-war Paris. Audrey Hepburn, Cary Grant, George Kennedy, James Coburn.

A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS: Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Snoopy and the rest of the Peanuts gang learn the true meaning of Christmas in this animated classic.

CHILD IN THE NIGHT: (NR) This is a psychological, made-for-TV mystery about a child who sees his father murdered. Intense themes. Tom Skerrit, JoBeth Williams.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL: (PG) A retelling of Dickens' classic in which one man discovers the true meaning of Christmas. George C. Scott is the miserly Scrooge whose sole pursuit of financial success has left him a bitter and lonely old man. Dad plans hours of fun, while Arthur tries very hard to avoid his pain-in -the-neck cousin Mo.

 

D.W., THE PICKY EATER: (G) It's wrong to call D.W. a picky eater. The only things she won't eat are vegetables, fish, fruit, and meat. So it's not her fault when she has a tantrum in a restaurant when someone tried to slip her some spinach! Also includes "Buster and the Daredevils". Arthur and Buster meet two really cool kids and, naturally, are dazzled by them. The new kids agree to teach Buster some skateboard tricks as long as he does anything they dare him to do.

D.W.'S BLANKIE: (G) D.W. security blanket is missing, so Arthur and D.W. look all over town for it. If they can't find it, D.W. will have to do the impossible--spend the night without her blankie! Also includes "The Perfect Brother". Having a friend like Brain spend the weekend sounded like a great idea! But Arthur finds it hard being around someone who is almost perfect-- or at least seems to be.

DANTE'S PEAK (PG-13) Without warning, day becomes night; air turns to fire and solid ground melts beneath white-hot lava. Welcome to the town of Dante's peak, where a long dormant volcano is about to erupt. Who will survive when the inferno unleashes its fury? Pierce Brosnan and Linda Hamilton star.

DEAD POETS SOCIETY: (PG) A free-spirited English teacher at a strict Vermont prep school in 1959 tries to instill a love of poetry and a love of life in his students. His efforts lead to both comic and tragic results. Robin Williams.

THE DEADLY COMPANIONS: (NR) A former Union soldier (Brian Keith) tracks a rebel deserter (Chills Wills) across the American southwest. He catches up with the deserter in a frontier saloon.
