Who is Eligible for TBBC's Services and How do I Apply?

TBBC's no-cost services include audiobooks and audiobook players, Braille books, large print books for children, news reading services (Audiovision and Newsline) and are available to:

  1. Individual New Jersey residents of all ages (children, teens, adults) whose ability to read may be affected by a physical impairment, a reading disability, or a vision impairment. Anyone who has difficulty reading standard print or holding a book or turning the pages of a book may be eligible for our services. The individual application needs to be completed and certified (info on certification is found on the page of the application titled "To Be Completed by Certifying Authority"). The certified application can be faxed, scanned then emailed, or mailed to TBBC. Our fax number is: 609-406-7181. Our email address is tbbc@njstatelib.org . The Individual application is available for download here:
  2. Places that serve NJ residents who meet our eligibility criteria. These places can apply for an institutional account (aka deposit account). Eligible places include, for example, adult day care programs, assisted living facilities, continuing care communities, hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation facilities and schools for the blind. With an institutional account, you can receive no-cost, long-term loans of digital talking book machines, a collection of digital audiobook cartridges, Braille books and an institutional account to BARD. Read more information on institutional accounts.
  3. Libraries. Libraries serve eligible clients and they may apply for a library deposit account
