Who is Eligible for TBBC's Services and How do I Apply?
TBBC's services are Available to:
- Individual New Jersey residents of all ages (children, teens, adults) whose ability to read may be affected by a physical impairment, a reading disability, or a vision impairment. Anyone who has difficulty reading standard print or holding a book or turning the pages of a book may be eligible for our services. See below for more information.
- Places that serve NJ residents who meet our eligibility criteria. These places can apply for an institutional account (aka deposit account).
- Libraries. Libraries serve eligible clients and they may apply for a library deposit account.

INDIVIDUAL NEW JERSEY RESIDENTS (children, teens, adults) can apply so that they can have a long-term loan of a digital audiobook player, digital audiobooks, Braille books, access to downloadable audiobooks and audio news reading services. Interested individuals should please complete the attached application, have it certified, and mail it to:

Remember to include "FREE MATTER FOR THE BLIND AND HANDICAPPED" on the envelope, to take advantage of the waived postal fees.

LIBRARIES can also apply to have a TBBC account so that they can have long-term loans of digital players and audiobooks on hand to lend to patrons, an Audiovision account and a collection of Braille and digital books.
INSTITUTIONAL ACCOUNT applications are also available for places that serve people who meet TBBC's eligiblity criteria. The applications are called deposit accounts. Eligible places include, for example, adult day care programs, assisted living facilities, continuing care communities, hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation facilities and schools for the blind. With an institutional account, you can receive long-term loans of digital talking book machines, a collection of digital audiobook cartridges, Braille books and an institutional account to BARD.
