How do I Apply for TBBC's Services?

The New Jersey State Library Talking Book & Braille Center (TBBC) provides services in New Jersy as a regional library of the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, a division of the U.S. Library of Congress. We serve NJ residents all ages (children, teens, adults) who have difficuly reading standard print or holding a book or turning the pages of a book because of a physical impairment, a reading disability or a vision impairment. We serve individuals and all places in NJ who may at some time serve eligible individuals. You must apply for TBBC's services:

  1. Application for Individual NJ residents: The individual application needs to be completed and certified (info on certification is found on the page of the application titled "To Be Completed by Certifying Authority"). The certified application can be faxed, scanned and emailed, or mailed to TBBC. Our fax number is: 609-406-7181. Our email address is tbbc@njstatelib.org. The Individual application is available for download here:
  2. Applications for Places that serve NJ residents who meet our eligibility criteria. These places can apply for an institutional account (aka deposit account). Eligible places include, for example, adult day care programs, assisted living facilities, continuing care communities, hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation facilities and schools for the blind. With an institutional account, you can receive no-cost, long-term loans of digital talking book machines, a collection of digital audiobook cartridges, Braille books and an institutional account to BARD.   3. Application forLibraries. Libraries serve eligible clients and they may apply for a library deposit account
