Bernardsville VFW Post 7858 Welcomes Outspoken Library Kiosk to Library
The New Jersey State Library Talking Book & Braille Centers (TBBC) Outspoken Library kiosk is now available at the Bernardsville Public Library, 1 Anderson Hill Rd. The kiosk is designed to enable veterans and residents who have impaired vision, a physical disability that makes it difficult to hold a book, or a learning disability to download 3,000 audiobooks which they can play on a free listening device.
Once registered for the program with TBBC, users will then be able to access the National Library Services Braille and Audio Reading (BARD) Program from home. The Bard service offers over 18,000 downloadable audiobooks and 42 magazines. The Outspoken Library kiosk is provided free to libraries and its services are free to eligible users.
This initiative will help us expand the services of the Talking Book and Braille Center to new, underserved populations in New Jersey, said Adam Szczepaniak, director of TBBC, in explaining its operation to members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7858. It will help to make a difference for those who, for whatever reason, have difficulty reading printed material. Szczepaniak added that the kiosk was already available to veterans in Lyons Hospital and the Veterans Home in Vineland, and will be installed in the NJ Veterans Homes in Menlo Park and Paramus, shortly.
