Blind Couple Get Baby Back

This falls under good news, bad news.

Good news! Mikaela Sinnett, two months old, was just returned home to her parents, Blake Sinnett and Erika Johnson of Independence, Missouri.

The bad news? The only reason young Mikaela was taken from the couple almost immediately after she was born is because both her mother and father are blind.

Design Star at HGTV - Braille

HGTV's Design Star show included Braille!

One of the designers created artwork using Braille as part of a design challenge.

Unfortunately, her design was not well received. She was supposed to be creating a relaxing work place for fire fighters.

Victor Reader Stream Program

Thanks to a grant from the Assistive Technology Advocacy Center of Disability Rights of New Jersey, the New Jersey State Library Talking Book & Braille Center has purchased Victor Reader Stream players for a pilot program to lend the players to TBBC patrons ages 21 and under.

Blind Touch Tour

On Friday, May 14, young customers of the New Jersey State Library Talking Book and Braille Center and their parents got an up-close circus experience on a visit to the Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus at the Sun Center, Trenton. During the Blind Touch Tour, the children met the performers, petted the animals, juggled with the clowns, and played with some larger-than-life props.
