Victor Reader Stream Program
Thanks to a grant from the Assistive Technology Advocacy Center of Disability Rights of New Jersey, the New Jersey State Library Talking Book & Braille Center has purchased Victor Reader Stream players for a pilot program to lend the players to TBBC patrons ages 21 and under. The Victor Reader Stream plays NLS downloaded digital books and is much smaller and more portable than the NLS Digital Talking Book Machine.
Information about the Victor Reader Stream can be found at the HumanWare website: www.humanware.com/en-usa/products/blindness/dtb_players/compact_models/_details/id_81/victorreader_stream_daisy_mp3.html
If you would you like your child to be involved in this pilot program, TBBC will:
- Lend your child a Victor Reader Stream;
- Assist you in signing up for BARD;
- Help you learn how to download books from BARD to the Victor Reader Stream.
Participants will need to:
- Download at least one book onto the Victor Reader Stream;
- Take a survey about the using the Victor Reader Stream;
- Return the Victor Reader Stream once it is no longer being used to listen to books from TBBC or TBBC requests its return.
There are a limited number of Victor Reader Stream players available. Players are available on a “first come, first served” basis. Anyone who is interested in participating in this pilot can contact TBBC at 609-530-3251 or at tbbcyouth@njstatelib.org to sign up. Please contact us if you have any questions!
