Braille

Thanks to Carol Castellano, President, POBC-NJ, Director of Programs, National Organization of Parents of Blind Children for sharing this information about this year's BRAILLE READERS ARE LEADERS CONTEST, which starts November 1!

The Red Cross is offering classes for volunteer Braille transcribers. These are the volunteers who help create Braille textbooks for students in New Jersey and other states.

One of the designers created artwork using Braille as part of a design challenge.

Unfortunately, her design was not well received. She was supposed to be creating a relaxing work place for fire fighters.

School Library Journal (a magazine for teachers and librarians at www.schoollibraryjournal.com) is holding a purely for fun "battle of the kids books." Sixteen books are selected.

What if everyone in New Jersey read the same book? One Book New Jersey, sponsored by the New Jersey Library Association, is a fun and exciting program to get people reading and talking about what they read.
